Kansai Soka High School Chapter

Chapter Heads: Sakura and Miki

We, Sakura and Miki, are 12th-grade students at Kansai Soka High School. Living in Japan, you have tremendous opportunities to learn about the Hiroshima tragedy and the cruelty of Nuclear Weapons in your student life. We also have studied the issue since we were in elementary school and cultivated our passion for solving the problem. In particular, since our school founder: Daisaku Ikeda has been working for Nuclear Abolishment for a long, we naturally came to believe it’s our responsibility to take over his life work and accomplish it. Since we believe that the most important thing for us is to find the core roots of the issue in order to deeply understand the current situation, we focus on collecting data and articles related to our topic for research purposes. Based on those findings, we created three action plans and gave presentations to our school students several times. In addition, we have conducted research on this issue with Canadian college students this summer. From Japanese and Canadian perspectives, we will dig deeper into the topic and hope to find new solutions to open the next phase towards Nuclear Disarmament.
