Toro Nagashi

On the 6th of August of each year, thousands of people participate in "Toro Nagashi," a peace event. People release vibrant and colorful lanterns into the Motoyasu River, which flows along the edge of A-Bomb Park and through Hiroshima, in honor of deceased victims and ancestors. Individuals write and sketch their wishes for world peace on the homemade lanterns. Numerous victims died in the Motoyasu River while the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Participating in Toro Nagashi allows us to spread the word about nuclear disarmament while also assisting the victims' transition to peace.
